Alcmene
From Legendary Journeys
Alcmene is the mortal mother of Hercules by Zeus and of Iphicles by her husband Amphitryon. When Zeus impregnated Alcmene he came to her in the form of her husband, Amphitryon. She was unaware that she had been with Zeus until after Hercules was born. When Hercules was 18 years-old, Alcmene sent him to Cheiron's Academy to learn how to defend himself. It was there that Hercules learned the skills that made him a legendary hero. Many years after Amphitryon's death, Alcmene married Jason. They were married until her peaceful death (HTLJ "Twilight").
