Ambrosia

The Food of the Gods.
Ambrosia is a gelatine mass of crystalline grapes.If eaten by a mortal, it elevates the mortal to godhood. The transformation takes 2 rounds and is accompanied by a glowing display as the body overflows with primal energy. The consumer is dazed during the transformation. The mortal immediately gains 1 god level. During this period, her eyes glow white with power. The transformation gives no knowledge in itself. The newborn god has to figure out her powers and limitations by herself or find someone to teach her. A god reduced to mortality who eats the food of the gods regains all his former powers immediately. If placed in the mouth of a corpse it acts as a raise dead spell. The process of creating food of the gods is a secret unknown even to most gods. As a result, the substance is exceedingly rare.
The first was located in a cave in the Hall of Ambrosia, at the foot of Mount Poulis. It was kept in a golden bowl suspended by golden chains. Somehow, Xena knew of the ambrosia's location so she strived to prevent both Thersites and Petracles from finding it before she did. When she did find it, she threw it into a fire pit.
The second stash of ambrosia was located in the roof of a small chamber at the bottom of a staircase, well protected by fire and a bed of large spikes. Access to the ambrosia was via several climbing ropes and a key; the Dagger of Helios fitted into a stone that released the ambrosia from a hatch in the roof. Most of this ambrosia was also destroyed by fire, although enough of it survived for both Velasca and Callisto to eat it and become goddesses as a result.
The final stash of ambrosia belonged to the Greek Amazons. Ares (now mortal) declared war on the Amazons in an attempt to get his hands on their stash of ambrosia and so reclaim his godhood. Unfortunately for him, he failed to find out where the ambrosia was hidden.
