Amphipolis

A village in the Edones area of Thrace (Thracia) in north-east Greece, noted as "sheep country." It is situated on the Strymon River between Cercinitis Lake and the coast. This is Xena's home village, which was attacked by Cortese, causing the death of her brother, Lyceus and the estrangement of her other brother Toris. Xena not only fought Cortese's army and drove them away, she began to take control of the surrounding villages to use them as a 'buffer zone' against further attacks. This was the start of her 'bad' phase. Amphipolis has at least one tavern (owned by Xena's mother, Cyrene) but no horse dealers!
