Ngila Dickson ONZM, was born in 1958, in Dunedin, New Zealand. She was the costume designer for the first four seasons of Xena: Warrior Princess, before leaving to work on Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and susequently the sequels, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

She has also on shows as a costume designer, such as Mysterious Islands. However, she is also quite prominently featured in the film industry aswell, working on Jack Be Nimble (starring Alexis Arquette), Without a Paddle (featuring Danielle Cormack), The Last Samurai and more recently, The Green Lantern.

Dickson won the 1998 TV Award for "Best Contribution to Design" from the New Zealand Film and TV Awards her work on Xena: Warrior Princess.

Reflecting on leaving Xena, Dickson commented that she was 'really unsure' about going to do Lord of the Rings but realised that after five years of Xena, 'it was time’.
