- Charon mentions Hercules never paying for passage across the Styx and losing his lantern – references to Hercules in the Underworld. Also, Hercules mentions his previous encounter with Cerberus.
- Music from Joseph LoDuca's score for Army of Darkness is played several times throughout the episode.
- The original myth this episode is based on originally had Hermes rescuing Persephone instead. Also, Persephone was not attracted to Hades in the slightest.
